Question on coils

Hello! ...

I am really enjoying the Safari and just wondering if anyone has tried any other
coils other than the stock coil.

Went out today and found a bunch of clad and a wheat penny!

I just bought the 6" Excellator coil from Kellyco last week I air tested it last night & I was very surprise at the depht it was getting. Great for Trashy areas.

I use the 15" WOT coil in big fields where I want more coverage with each swing. It is very sensitive, and is quickly becoming my first choice in coils. I also use the 5 x 7 Excellerator in really trashy areas to pick out good signals among the iron.

Both are great coils and work fine with the Safari.

Larry,

Actually I haven't used the 5x7 much at all but it seems to do the job nicelly. The small, enclosed base makes it easier to use in restricted areas as well, like in woods with heavy undergrowth or lots of downfalls. I usually hunt large open fields so my main concern is covering as much ground as possible, so the 15" WOT is my first choice.

Got out for a bit yesterday on the CS 3rd Corps 1st day left flank but I think we were a little too far to the left :rage:. Ended up with three shot modern jacketed bullets and my first sunburn of the season.

Mark,

Generally I run it between 12 and 15 depending on the soil. I basically settle for the highest setting that does not produce too many false signals.

I have the 6" Kellyco coil also and highly recommend it for trashy areas. The secret is to go slow and let the coil work and you wll occasionally hear a silver tone bleed through the nails and junk. That's what you are after. Onus
