Question on faint signal

Hi everyone,

I hear a lot of metal detectorists talk about faint signals indicating something deep. Using a GTI 2500, it seems all the signals including the bell ding are about the same. The only time I encountered something close to a so called faint signal was during the pinpoint process on what turned out to be an Indian penny at about six inches of depth. During the pinpoint process, the detector gave a quieter sort of quivering sound I had not encountered before. However, that same Indian penny gave a nice solid coin ding, indicated penny on ID, and indicated target size b at six inches on imaging. Any info. on these so called faint signals detectorists talk about would be appreciated.

Thanks Joe

You won't get those faint signals with a Garrett like you do with other detectors due to its feature " faint target audio boost" that gives the same signal on deep or shallow targets. The different signal you got with the IH is due to the fact that it is composed mostly of bronze instead of copper.
