Question on MXT sensitivity to smaller gold

I would like to know if the MXT will get thinner gold chains, charms and the like. How would you rate its sensitivity to these items? Ive had an X5 and an Eldorado so if you could compare it to either of those it would help. Looking for approximate distances you can get a small charm in non mineralized white beach sand like at a freshwater lake. I could get about 6" with the X5, about 3-4" with the Eldorado.
Do you run the MXT in prospect mode for this type of hunting?
I recently read the article in Eastern/Western Treasures on the MXT, I think it was the Feb issue and it looks like a great machine.
Thank you,
Neil

Hi Neil,
I used the X5 and MXT on freshwater beaches quite a bit. Long enough to know that the TID and audio of the MXT can be a real time saver when it comes to eliminating digging the small foil bits that take forever to recover and ID. With the MXT the little foil bits sound ratty and the ID will bounce iron/foil while the good items have that smooth sound. That saves a lot of time. The X5's disc down low is not nearly as good as the MXT either IMO. To hit on the same small stuff the MXT picks up you will be down in the iron range with no visual or audio clue as to what the target is. I guess what I am saying is that there is really no comparison. For me the MXT won hands down.

I forgot your main question
Yes the MXT has all the sensitivity a person needs for picking up small chains and other items. C/J mode with the disc at nail reject will not miss small gold with the MXT.
Tom

Thanks alot Tom. Your right, the X5 is great on small gold, but you really have to dig a ton of stuff to find it. That machine could sure use tone ID or a meter. Looking forward to having some fun with the MXT.
Neil

FYI..I used the 6X9 DD coil on the beach for a little better coverage. I'm not sure, but the stock 950 coil may not give that ratty sound on the foil.
Tom

Thanks Tom. Im told the 6X9 is great on the beach. Im used to DD coils spending so much time with a Sov.
The 4X6 I ordered is a DD I believe.
Neil

Neil,
I think you will love that little 4X6 coil on your MXT in trash as it can realy seperate and has some great depth to it. The first time used it I impressed my 2 buddies, one with the Sovereign and the other the Explorer when I was able to pick more coins out of a trashy area than they did together.
The 2 coil I use on the MXT are the 6X9 and the 4X6 and havent put the stock one on at all last summer.

for your beach hunting. After all it is a gold machine at heart. I got started in the hobby with a Goldmaster. When it comes to that aspect of the hobby White's got it right with the smooth stable operation you can get out of their machines.
C/J mode with the gain just over 10 and a low threshold lets you hear those soft smooth whispers that say gold.
