Question on SE and depth guage????

I am new SE user. Wondering if the depth meter when in all metal ferrous or other discrim mode is reliable? I can go to pinpoint and it zeros right in but does the depth update correctly in regular running mode? Seems to

Also, finally got the X-1 probe from the auction and great cudos to Ralph at Sunray. Things took a while to arrange but he was very helpful and 100% great guy getting me the probe. Now to try it out. Christmas in July!!!!!!!!!

1.) You'll love the Sunray Probe...

2.) As far as Accuracy of Depth...On the Meter I personally do not think its accurate..

I agree with mtpockets. Totally unreliable. Too much depends on type of soil, moisture content, etc. for it to be believed. DIG EVERYTHING!

They are calibrated to coin sized objects as well as conductivity. If a coin sized object is deeper than 1 inch your detector will give a very accurate depth. Surface coins and other objects excluded.

That is part of beauty of the probe I hope. Less time with my head in a hole like an Ostrich and more prizes.

No silver yet but local school giving up 1965 and 1970 quarters and built in 1950 so matter of time.

Use the SE long enough and you wont have to worry about a depth gauge! The Explorer line of detectors is know for its accuracy, what they dont tell you is that its not the accuracy of their display. through sound and a trained ear you will have no problem telling the difference between a a dime at 4 inches and a dime at 10 inches, it just takes practice and allot of time in the field!
