Question on the GQ SS V-2 Threshold

colt

About a year ago, I traded my GQ SS V-2 to a friend and then last week I got the GQ back. I have been playing with it, trying to brush up on how to operate it and noticed when I adjust the threshold knob, it makes a sharp high pitched squeal for a few seconds, then the tone drops to a normal sound. Is this normal, I can't remember if it did that when I used it the last time, which was a year ago.

Other than that it is working great, I went out at 5:00 am this morning while the temp was a cool 90 "we have been over 110 everyday" and played in the test garden, man I forgot how good the GQ handles hot rocks and black sand. I am going to Colorado in July to escape the heat and do some nugget hunting along the Ute Pass, it will be nice to spend all day outside, instead of living like a vampaire and only coming out of a night.

I did some more testing using a Minelab 11" DD coil and it performed the same, and I know the Minelab coil is good. So now all I need to do, is get to the cool Colorado Rockies and fire this puppy up.
