Question on tone ID

My 1350 has the option to turn the tone ID. I think it's easier to find good targets with it on. My question is why have the options? Under what conditions would you want to turn the tone ID off? Anybody know?:garrett:

Some people are annoyed by various tones, and prefer to hunt with only one tone for everything, or they prefer to watch the meter. Other folks don't even look at the meter, and only listen to the tones. You have a choice. BTW, you can tell a LOT about what a target is, even with only one tone, by the different characteristics of that tone; e.g. a nice "round", smooth tone vs a sharp, raspy or broken tone, is telling.
