Question

All metal mode in the Pro is a discriminate all metal mode. There is still some lower end discrimination. With the Gold's "true all metal mode" there is not. Therefore a true all metal mode will find ultra tiny objects and can go deeper than than a disc all metal mode. This is why the info on the ATgold stresses "true all metal mode"

Both the true all metal mode and adjustable threshold are important features if you are nugget hunting. To find those deep nuggets, you often times don't necessarily hear a beep, but listen for a change in threshold. The same logic could be applied to coin and relic hunting also.

Yup... that's how we did it in the old days. Finding a dime at 10 inches was an extremely difficult thing to do in the 1980s. You would have to listen to the most minute changes in threshold. There were no digital displays...only a tone or if you were lucky, an analog meter needle that moved the tiniest bit in relation to the sound.
