Question?

Ive noticed a lot of the companies coils are starting to look like the Techniques T2 coils, must be something good. Didnt the MLO say they tested it and got 1/2" difference in their soil? That might equated to an inch or two for us less experienced.

The T2 coil (at least the one I'm aware of) looks more like a straight elliptical Double-D while the SEF and new minelab look like overlapping ovals. Is there another T2 coil that looks the same?

It currently sounds like that double-oval design may be a good development.

hi I use the SE here in England ,will have the new coil tomorrow ,will let you know about it asp, first thing will weigh it against the standard 10.5 coil first ,then take it to my trashy park for some testing ,depth is not every thing and different soils will have different readings so will leave that out for now .

having used the 15x12 sef coil there is 11ozs difference between that and the standard coil ,and it so difficult to swing not very good in my view .

blackx the ones shouting across the pond about the SEF COILS,are all minelabowners site people ,so they get 3-4 coils for nothing to spread the word two other guy tests the coil s as well ,they are hardly going to say its crap , good marketing by that company and a great advert for there product, personally over weight ,cumbersome, and only good for flat pasture ,lets not forget the 15x12 coil is heavier by 11 Oz's than the standard coil-on my scales at home and the depth difference is marginal about half an inch, none of these players tell you the weight or the awkward shape of the sef coils . Now lets see what the minelab new coil is like, today it arrives ..

You are not the first who tells that the depth difference is marginal about half an inch. Such reviews appered in other forums too but...
I just can't understand one thing - how after three years developments, they haven't succeed in reducing the weight and they haven't improved the performance? :rage:

Which ones of them got coils for free? Most of the posts at MLO about SEFs that I've seen were from people who seemed to have purchased them (albeit some at a slight discount from one particular dealer).

to spread the word two other guy tests the coil s as well ,they are hardly going to say its crap ,

A company sponsored field test has it's own value (a subset of the possible value) and one has to interpret it as such but even the ones who purchased them are also uniformly (from what I've seen) reporting that, while the SEFs are heavier, they are significantly quieter than the Slimline and they can increase their sensitivity significantly. It also sounds like they may separate better with improved pinpointing. There may have been some shills in those posting about the coils but nothing I saw seemed obviously so, just normal users happy with the product (except for perhaps the weight).

Almost all posts I saw mentioned the increased weight.

I'm thinking about picking up the new Pro coil if I can swing it. If I like it enough, I may try to sell the Slimline to recoup some of my cost. It sure is a noisy sumb*****. It wouldn't surprise me at all if that double-oval design that Minelab and Detech(?) are using significantly improves noise cancellation. If that holds true, that in itself would make it worth it in my book.
