The 10.5 DD is rated as water resistant so my question is will it handle heavy rain fall? Also what part of the coil would possibly leak?

Rain isn't a problem. Pressure from being submerged is the issue.
If you want added insurance, a little silicone sealer around where the cable goes into the grommet, around where the grommet goes into the coil, and around the seam where the two halves of the coil were joined should do it (many just seal the coil cover on, which has the benefit of also sealing out dirt/sand).
