Quick hunt in HARD ground

HuntinDog

Well-known member
The fields are DRY around my parts and any huntin is tough.
Got in a little over an hour or so and pulled some interesting targets from an old cabin site.
The round brown object in the upper left is a lead ingot. don't find them often. cleaned it up hoping for a smelter, but no luck.
Couple of shotshell full brass and a few rifle casings.
Hand full of lamp parts, a couple of spoons, harmonica reed and pocket knife parts,
a little wick winder (Venus PAT Dec 10,1867) and a compact top with a little gold gilding.
And the best find was an 1869 shield nickel.

Always nice to get out and hunt even if it is hard ground.

Nice finds! That Shield Nickel is in much better condition than any of mine--congrats!

Thanks for the replies Beepsilver and Calabash,
It was a fun hunt just need a little of the wet stuff to soften it up a bit.
