Quickie field hunt, token, 2 cents, and buttons...

I had another field I have not hit yet, and it was 32 degrees with wind blowing in the open country, I knew this would be a short hunt. I was doing so serious cherry picking. Had my etrac in TTF and ONLY dug screaming solid hits. I lasted one hour and my fingers were numb from the cold wind. In that hour I squeeked out 1911, and 1913 wheats. A good luck token with the swastika on it. The town is about 30 minutes from me (Celina Ohio)

Got a nice flat button, another smal button. But my coolest find of the day wasn't even metal....it was black glass. It was a nice black glass button with a boars head on it, I saw it laying right on the surface of the bean stubble and thought it was first a piece of coal, but perfectly round. I bent over to pick it up and was pleasantly surprised it was a cool glass button. Very unusaul. But I love it.

Short but sweet, nice finds.. Waiting for last of snow to leave so I can get back to swinging.

Thx 4 post,

Moose

Very nice button. Never seen one like that before and glass too. Wondering why someone would made a luck token with the swastika on it??

why? because before Hitler got ahold of the swasticka, it WAS a good luck symbol. The boy scouts used it for years.

here is a brief history lesson if you care to read it:

The swastika is an extremely powerful symbol. The Nazis used it to murder millions of people, but for centuries it had positive meanings. What is the history of the swastika? Does it now represent good or evil?

The Oldest Known Symbol

The swastika is an ancient symbol that has been used for over 3,000 years. (That even predates the ancient Egyptian symbol, the Ankh!) Artifacts such as pottery and coins from ancient Troy show that the swastika was a commonly used symbol as far back as 1000 BCE.

During the following thousand years, the image of the swastika was used by many cultures around the world, including in China, Japan, India, and southern Europe. By the Middle Ages, the swastika was a well known, if not commonly used, symbol but was called by many different names:
