A security guard at my workplace has to clean out a house his parents owned, now they are both gone.He told me last night'YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE ALL THE STUFF MY PARENTS COLLECTED-That house is JUST FULL of stuff-My mother had a dresser chock full of OLD COSTUME JEWELRY:blink:;AND THE CLOSETS ARE FULL OF OLD CLOTHES,AND EVERYTHING YOU CAN IMAGINE"-Then he tells me he is going to get a 30 yd.dumpster, and "out it all goes"...I told him"HEY!!!Some of that jewelry might be worth$$$'s;and it would be worth your while to go thru EVERYTHING you get rid of-Its a known fact that people that have the"save everything"state of mind have been known to hide away LOTS of money-he said they had magazines and books going back to the 60s and way before that....I told him being that his dad suffered from loss of memory and dementia;and collected different ordinary items-cigarette lighters, packs of batteries,etc-chances are good he hid some spending money,in clothes,books,shoes,etc....Check the crawl space, loose spots in the floors or walls;in cabinets,outbuildings-NOW he wants me to come over when its warm to hunt his yard-I said ya never know what he or she could have hidden;or where.....

Yup , that would be a great hunt for sure...

We have a cellar full of old "stuff" that Hank's father collected over the years prior to his passing. Plenty of "nooks and crannies" around our home...

I don't even know where to start. It's just hanging around down those stairs....I'll get to it some day...maybe...that's a lot of work, bending , moving stuff around, lifting...if I was younger I could do it in a day....no more :(

When my mom's husband died she found all kinds of money stuck in books & such.

Maybe you should help him clean out things with the proviso that you can keep anything he's going to toss ? That way he will get some help and you may get some goodies. Both guys come out ahead. steve in so az

I know people who buy whole houses full and then sell the stuff and make a bunch!

who knows what you might find. Checking pockets in the clothes in the closet may net some bucks and other items..maybe old pocket watch, etc.
Always pays to keep yer ears and eyes open to a lead like this one.

my mother has bought and sold antique costume jewelry for years! if you need any help with that contact me and I will see if she can help ya out!
