I say this from personal experience and due to knowing too many people who have done the same and ended up selling the SE within a couple months. Yes the XS and XSII are old now and believe me I have beat the crap out of my machines. I am mostly a deep woods relic hunter so I have had to replace and modify parts over the years. I put thousands of hours on my first XS and am now on my second. I have a reserve of 2 more waiting for the day my current machine sings out its last fluted tone. When my current stock of XSs gets used up I will just get another. I guess I am just old school. Maybe I didnt give the SE enough of a chance. Just too may subtle differences. I didnt like the fact of it being too sensitive on the tiniest pieces of camp lead that litter our civil war camps. I would rather not waste my time digging microscopic pieces of camp lead. Didnt like the falsing it did in our ground. I dont personally know you Don but I do know that you are one of the most proficient Explorer users out there. I am sure you will master the SE in no time. I would probably love the machine myself if I had no choice. But for now as long as I can still find the XS cheap on ebay that is my choice. I dread the day when I cant.
