R-n-R's Ring and coin program....... Play the odds and win!

Just tested 50 gold rings(10k and 14k) - 48 of em' hit 2 did not-(they were in the round/square tab range) Beaver tails still hit(they are short sigs), but square tabs and round pull rings and round w/ beavertails do not. Nor do the stinky zincs. Just nickles, coppers and silver. This maybe good for max return with out having to dig all the crap. I'm going to try it next time I'm out and see. Granted you'll miss some but you can concentrate on better odds of getting a ring without all the CRAP!!!!!!

Based on this simple test I could dig 48 rings and avoid all the tabs, still get coins/silver rings and only miss 2 rings.........

DISCLAIMER - This would be good to use in new areas, not old ones where some good buttons or tokens or IH's might be!!

It's simple- Accept blocks (3+4) / / / /( 9,10,11,12). and go hunt. (You could knock out 12 as well, the half dollars hit at 11)

Some of you guys with piles of rings could do a test to compare your results to mine.

Interesting-but a little too high on the coins end. I find keys, rings, and, yes, some corroded zincers just below the zinc icon one notch. The standard rings mode for me in trashy areas is to go to coins mode and simply add the one notch below nickel(foil) and voila! you're set.

The only problem I see is that my best ever find (US Gold Coin in 14K bezel) misses on those settings. Hit around 7 if my memory is good. It was in The Searcher an issue or so ago. The program I keep on my custom setting is almost just like yours. I usually run it toward the end of the day when my back is telling me to bend less. It also works better for me in super trashy areas.

I tested all my gold a while back and made a similar post. You might be able to search it out. I got gold all over the scale. My 1/10 ounce 24kt Buffalo gold bullion coins ring up at dime.

Finally. I always go back and check my sites more than once. After you get a mess of coins or a mess of trash out of the ground you might be surprised at what turns up.

This is just for new areas like schools/parks were there's modern stuff, In an old area I'm rooting like a hog!!!!

Gotcha. I still suggest straight jewelry mode as often as possible. I went to my custom program today after about 2 1/2 hours. I wasn't digging zincs at all toward the end. Too many targets. I'll post it later tonight.

My gold coin in bezel was actually on notch 5.5. So much for my memory. Check out last Fall's Searcher for my story. You find some good stuff so you should submit something to Garrett for their consideration. I got a hat, a book, and some other goodies for mine. One guy got a Pro-Pointer. I had submitted two things and they merged them into one article. I would have been a lot happier with just the gold coin story.
