Dug these 4 dimes a while back. Two are silver & two are not. Are you carefully checking things when you get home ?

Found a 40's quarter one day that I thought was clad.
 
When I went :detecting: I always checked my coins when I got home and more than once I had silver that was dark like clad! May God Bless! Amen! :angel: Ma Betty
 
3 weeks ago I got a 1987 - D Lincoln Penny that is double struck on both sides. On the Front the Motto that says IN GOD WE TRUST is doubled to the 5:00 position and on the Reverse The letters O and N in the word One Cent are FULLY doubled to the 7:00 position. I have not had it appraised yet but it could be worth a few bucks. God knows I can use the dough. I also got a 1967 Gold Plated Eisenhower Dollar coin and a Gold Plated Quarter in my change.They are cool. but not worth anything much.I like to go to the Bank and buy like $10 worth of Pennies and ho through them. Pennies are the most misprinted coin there is.Also if you go to a small bank and order a box of Half Dollars for $ 1,000 face value. When you go through them you will be AMAZED at how many of the Halves are actually 90% and 40% Silver. The Halves from 1965 to 1970 are the 40% Sliver ones.Here in Boston they are paying 16 X Face value. The Banks only charge FACE valie because they don't care about the Silver content. They only care about the Denomination. I have found Barbers, Walking Liberty's, Franklin's and Kennedy's. On RARE occasions I have even found Seated Liberty's and even Capped Bust Halves. Those are AWESOME when you get them. The Capped Bust ones start at $200 and go up from there. !!!!!!! When you are done checking them you return the regular Clad ones to your bank and keep the Silver ones. After a short time you will have a whole box of Silver Halves. You just have separate the 40% ones from the 90% ones which is easy to do. You can make some serious money doing that. A friend of mine cashed in a box of his 90% Silver ones and he got about $14,000 fir them before the Silver prices jumped up more. Anyway, Think about it guys ok. I hope this helps. Hi Barker, that is great because you do have something to fall back on for paying your espenses! Another detectorist who used to be on here until I goofed and hurt his feelings and he left! Terry (goes4ever) did just that and found lots and lots of silver coins....He really did good while he was unemployed but now is working at a new job...he did good :detecting: old farms with his friends, too! Sorry, to hear that you are broke....but when you have Jesus, you are never completely broke because He cares for you and will meet your needs through prayer and by praising Him in all things and even when we are in financial distress! Pray and tell God what you need and see Him work miracles in your life by giving Him honor and glory in worshiping Him in Spirit and in Truth! Amen!

God provided for me in a way where I could have more money in my checking acct without having to withdraw on my IRA...which is drawing good interest for now, but will expire next year in March! I was able to borrow on one of my credit cards at 0% until May of next year...although I have to pay 4% on the amount I borrowed! This gives me more time to withdraw from my IRA by Dec, as a certain percentage has to be taken out or otherwise the gov't charges a penalty besides paying taxes on it...and then next year before May, I can withdraw enough to pay the credit card in full and not pay the higher increase after May! I won't have to pay taxes as long as I don't withdraw more than $10,000 per year...but this brings the amount down which reduces the int payments I get! I am so glad the Lord helped me to have the IRA, because without it....I would have had to sell my house and not be able to pay my bills! I just have to say, Praise God and Thank You, Jesus, and Holy Spirit for Your work in my life and for the good of Your grace and mercy to me and Your other Children, too, who stand firm on their faith in You! BARKER --

If I go to the bank and get a box of $1000 worth of halves (2000 coins), what would you say is an average number of 40% or 90% coins in that 2000? Also, how do you get the bank to "buy back" the coins? Do you roll them, or what? I doubt you can just take a box of 2000 coins and say "here, can I get my $1000," can you?

Curious to know, as this is interesting...

Welcome to the CMD Forum, sgoss66, Steve from OK! Glad to have you with us and I am sure someone can answer your question about buying and returning Half-Dollars....I have never done so...but some seem to do rather well by going through all those coins! I think it depends on the bank you go to, as some coins have already been gone through by others doing the same! Also, some return the coins to a different bank than from where they bought them! Many banks won't have that many on hand. Ask what they have. If they have a lot, tell them you want the old looking rolls. Sometimes you will get several silvers, and other times none at all. There are many people looking for them now. Some people will put a specific mark on the rolls so that they don't buy back that same roll later.
They come in rolls, so just slide them back in when you take them back. You can also use them to pay for gas etc...
