Racer 2 Questions

New to Deteting and very interested in the Makro Racer 2 and have been studying the manual to familiarize myself with it's operation. Hoping those of you that have been using one might be able to answer some questions I have. Read that when pinpointing you get a readout of the distance from the target and an increase in tone pitch. How do you determine the targets depth.? Reread the manual many times, but can't find any reference to a depth reading. Would it be advisable to do a factory default reset after changing batteries or searchcoils? Is it possible when pinpointing to do a Retune to narrow it's detection field? If so, what would that procedure be? Thanks for any answers anyone could provide me.

I believe when you pull the trigger to pinpoint it gives you a depth readout. Yes the target can be detuned or made smaller. You just have to put the search coil closer to the target and pull the trigger. Once you do it a few times you will get the hang of it.

The Racer and Racer 2 pinpoint depth reading can be toggled between inches and centimeters. You should check to see what your unit is set at since they often ship out from the manufacturer set in centimeters: Here are the instructions for switching between inches and centimeters: Make sure metal detector is turned off, press and hold down both the right and left red arrow buttons simultaneously and turn the knob to switch the unit on. If screen displays SI then you are in centimeters, If screen displays US then you are set in inches. Repeat this process as necessary to toggle between SI (centimeters) and US (inches) to get the unit of measure that you wish to use.

What WestTennessee said...................Also when pinpointing, look at the depth meter, the lowest number should be the center.
