Rain chased me out or I would have had more! Always next time!

I did great once again and if it wasn't for the rain that moved in, I would have probably doubled the finds posted. But then again, I know there is plenty more left for a return trip. Today I dug another 8 Silver which isn't bad for a couple of hours work. Actually, when I got the detector out and turned it on I walked about 3 feet and dug my first Merc and when that happened I knew it was going to be a good day. Back to the finds! I dug 1 Barber Quarter dated 1915, 1 Barber Dime (with full liberty and some coin luster showing) dated 1897-s which books in VF at $110.00 and 6 Merc's dated 1916-s (this one got my heart pumping since I seen the date and flipped it over and seen a mintmark. Dang! It had to be an S!), 1936-d,1939-d,1941-d,1942, and 1944-d. I got lucky and found another Trade Token as well. It is a Good For 25c In Trade, Belmont Cafe/Grand Forks N. Dak. Neat looking Token! I also dug 3 older Nickels. They were 2 V-Nickels dated 1883 with cents and 1912, and 1 Buffalo Nickel dated 1920. I was going to use the Nic-A-Date on the '83 but you can make out the top of the 3 so I decided not too. I dug 2 Indian Heads dated 1887 (In very bad shape) and 1888 in very good shape. Also got 15 Wheats dated (2)1919,1920-d,1930,1934-d,1935,1935-d,1937-d,1940-d,1944-d,(4)1946-d and 1 1959-d Lincoln Memorial Penny. WOW!!!!!! You are just killing them with all the nice coins that you have been finding lately. Very nice variety once again and congratulations James........:) I sure would like to find a spot like you found. Good luck and keep up the great finds. HH.

Will see what is going on and try to plan something. I would have loved to have you there so you could have done some signal comparison. Always next time.

Yea, it sure would be something to see you find a spot like this and do some great posts like this. Most of the recoveries this time were 9"+ and some didn't even come in that great. Like the Token for instance, I was jumping in the low 20's on digital but it was hovering around 21 a lot so I knew it had to be some kind of coin. Hope you find a place like this and Good Luck and HH.

Wow James, you just keep digging them up. I haven't been out much since the last meeting. Did pick up a 39 merc this week. I'm taking a couple of vac. days next weekend. Plan to get out some. If you need help digging up some silver let me know.

Because you and it both are SMOKING on some nice finds

Wish we would get some rain, our dirt/clay iron ore mix is like concrete around here and it's even to damn hot to go fishing or ride my Harley. Rain clouds and high wids popped up in the afternoon for the last 3 days but ZERO rain fell on the mountain.

Keep em comin
H.H.

We needed the rain also and the dirt was starting to get hard in spots. I was going to try and wait the storm out but I don't think it stopped until it was dark. The reason for this is I wanted to try it after an electrical storm because it would have amplified all the metallic items in the ground so a person could go deeper. I guess next time. Thanks again for the response and hope you get the rain you desperately need.

Yeah, I would say you have been SMOKIN too.

Any of those merc's deeper than 6 inches? How about the Barbers? Just wondering if I am missing any deep stuff. From the looks of your post it looks like you have been hunting virgin territory.

The funny thing is that I thought this site was worked out last fall due to me and 2 other friends were at the site and almost got skunked. Just goes to show what happens when you take your time and work and area nice and slow. Been running 24 Semi-Auto with Deep on and still can get the deep targets. Got to love my Explorer XS!!! Thanks for the response Mirage and just remember to go slow and you will be suprised at what you have passed over when you have swung your coil normal speed. Good Luck and HH.

Actually when I look at what you guy's find in N.D. I envy but shouldn't as it's here in Wa. also. Just have to find it. Maybe I should wait till Eddie retires and talk him into taking a trip back there. Actually my family is from there and a whole portion of them still lives in N.D.

That would be a really great Idea to come to North Dakota you two. I would have to plan a trip to where ever you end up so I could meet you guys in person and try and find some nice deep targets and see if you guys would dig them or not. Thanks JB and remember to do a little research for the area you live and you will find a hot spot in no time at all. If it is old enough and close enough for Eddie, take him with and hopefully he will have a chance for a Seated since I would just love to see him post one for his very own. Good Luck and HH.

Very nice finds one again. I have noticed if a guy gets a little rain it can make all the difference in the world also. Some places a guy almost gets skucked like you say and if he go's back when it is just a little damper, Its like it has never been hunted. Great finds again james. keep it up. HH
