Rain drops keeps falling on my head, they keep falling,

Well-known member
but they subsided about 8a and checking the weather map, it looked like maybe a small window so I headed to the woods. Got in 2 1/2 hours before it started to mist. Stayed fairly close to the parking area and worked along and beside another road. Not many targets, but did manage a 42 Washington quarter, toasted Accutron watch face and a neat Match Box car for my dug car collection. Hadn't seen one like that before. This morning I put the 10" DD coil on the Omega for covering a little more area. Its not the deepest coil for the Omega, but it does separate real well. I, however, have no use for the extra long coil wire it has. Takes about 5 minutes to wrap the wire. At least it seems like it. 99, 1 and d3. HH jim tn

Jim

I just got a 10"DD coil for my Omega the other day...haven't been out yet with it yet.
Snow's slowly going...maybe the weekend I hope.
What's your take on the new 10"DD coil and how does it stack up to the 11"DD..which coil do you like best for the omega?

Whimpster, for parks and school yards with moderate to light trash I find myself using the 10" concentric more often then not. And probably use this coil most often. Where maximum depth, though, is needed, then it is the 11" DD. For moderate to fairly heavy trash then I use the 10" DD and for bumper to bumper trash the 5" DD. Over all, I use the four coils mentioned as conditions dictate, but the two 10" coils get the most use day in and day out. I like the 10" DD a lot and think you will as well. HH jim tn

I checked the radar early today and thought, "No way Jimmy will go out in this rain and cold" Wrong! Great work on your silver streak! You know, I bet the temps you are getting are very comfortable hunting, probably the best you will get all year, once it warms up too much, there will be bugs and people, and kudzu sprouting all over the place...you better keep hitting it hard.
Mud

Yep, Mud, our woods hunting days down here are already numbered. A week or so ago when we were in the 70's I picked 2 small tic's off my shirt. Things are budding and blooming so the end for woods hunting is near. And yes, 30's, 40's and 50's are great hunting temps. HH jim tn

Jim, thanks for the info...hoping to get out this weekend with the new 10"DD..do you hunt mostly in disc or in all metal mode with the omega?
