Rainy mega-hunt nets 19 keepers

Third virgin site of the year and it was awesome! Ended up with 4 V nickels, two Buffalos, 5 Indian heads, two Mercs, three Barber dimes, one Seated dime, a standing liberty quarter, and a bucket lister two-cent piece (nothing deeper than 6").

Also, the 2c piece surprised the hell out of me. I was expecting it to be a wheat!

I’ll say it again....spectacular! I’d give my left one for a place like that, gotta keep Righty...;)

My 4th hunt like that this year, but this had far more variety than the others. I'm finding I'm getting better at IDing vague stuff on old aerials. This was an old public park that is now on private lands.

HOLY SMOKES, TrpnBils! You are finding VIRGIN SITES holding stuff like THAT? WOW! I am envious, and really happy for you. That is SPECTACULAR!!!

SUPERB job, with both the research AND with the finds!!

Steve

It's been a good year! Research has panned out for a change!

Amazing day for sure . .. but you were stoked as you walked back to the truck knowing your research had paid off. The good stuff is still out there . . . and as your efforts show, the upfront legwork has its rewards!

Love to see what else turns up . . .

Congratulations!

Great hunt Jeff! Was the thimble silver? I agree the hunt starts with research and the old aerial photos are an invaluable weapon.

You know, I didn't actually think to check it. I really don't think it is, but it's flat so no way to check the inside. If it was, I'm assuming that's where the mark would be? It didn't strike me as being silver, but now that you mention it, it did come out of the ground pretty clean.

Wow great hunt. Good for you

Awesome hunt there, TB...

Looks to me like you're getting pretty comfortable these days with the CTX. :)

Well done,
:)
