Google "self-adhesive silicon bumpers".
look for peal and stick screen covers like the ones used for early smart phones that you can cut to size. They are easily removable and some are matte finish to reduce glare.
I use 5x3 PVC shrink wrap bags (covers the entire remote). They wrap nicely over the remote. You will have to do some trimming with a razor blade or exacto knife around the shaft connector and the back where the charging port is, but they last a reasonable amount of time and keep the remote looking like new.
I don't recommend if you don't know how to control a heat gun. Prolonged exposure to heat is not good for the remote and will destroy the bag anyways.
I don't recommend a hair dryer. They often require longer exposure to the lower heat they provide in order to shrink the bag. The extended exposure required to shrink the bag transfers more heat to the remote.
