water heater was a wood stove for saturday nite bath, YUP===FACT,
one TV in town and on sat nite the whole population go down and watch it, couldn' hear it was inside a store, with a 9 in screen (round one too) THE GOOD OL DAYS

40's, 50's, and 60's. Use to search for discarded soda bottles to get the 2 cents for each and got a nickle one time when one of the older girls wanted an address from one of the guys who was in the army. They were in the back of a pickup truck in front of our school and so she asked my cousin and I, if we would get it for her, she would give us a nickle. I did and got the phone number and the nickle. Hey....that was a lot of money for a farm girl, who didn't have much money to spend!

I remember that my brother and I shared a peppermint stick which came in each can of coffee and mom collected dishes which came inside of Mother's Oats. Now they are worth a lot as collectibles! Go figure!!

In the late 50's and early 60's.....dishes and etc were given away to get you to shop at their store. And service stations gave away glasses and also stamps, which were pasted in booklets and when full they could be redeemed for something you wanted or needed. Many stores gave stamps also according to the amount spent on purchases! Yeh....those were the good old days!! Don't give you nothing free now....just tax you to death!
