Rare 1840s U.S. Belt Buckle- A First!!!

Nice find Chuck. We refer to that plate as a "baby US." Several have been found in middle TN from Confederate positions. They were pressed into service as the south had few available accoutrements early in the war. Always a nice addition to any collection. Could be more in your camp or picket post.
