RARE COIN OF EMPEROR ALLECTUS

Youngted

New member
Today using the Nel Sharphooter coil on my T2 SE I found this Rare Allectus Coin although it was right on the surface of the field.Obverse Allectus Right Mint Clausentium (Colchester UK) A,D,293/296
Reverse Poseidon standing with foot on a Galley with Dolphin in outstretched hand. Trident in the other hand This is what makes this coin rare I cannot find it on line or in my books. Any one out there seen one?

Awesome find Brian. You fellows over there in the Mother Country must have some good soil to hunt. The detail on those ancient coins is unbelievable. What metal is that coin and what do you use to clean it up so nicely?

The coin is made of copper alloy light silver wash in its day. Not cleaned that is how I found it.The soil on this field is very kind to copper alloy not like clay which is awful

That roman is in stunning condition especially when you think it could of got some plough damage over the years, makes you wonder if it was deeper at one time and deep ploughing has brought it upto the surface.

The Sharpshooter seems to be working well for you Brain,i love using mine on the T2,build quality is very good,
