Well, it's like this.... In the 40's and 50's, it was happening more than ever before than any other decade, especially in New York hospitals... Remember the story in the the old testament about the two mothers who gave birth at the same time? Well, it's with the same level of greed that there was a lot of baby switching going on, especially among the rich and well off, and mothers that would give birth to a sick baby or an ugly baby and switch the baby with what they thought would be a baby they can live with and raise, and a lot of doctor and nurses were in on it, good money was made on these deals....
My father and Mother were here in NY in 1950, my mom got pregnant in a building on 122 street between 1st and 2nd avenue, those buildings are long gone and I'll tell you an ironic ending when it comes, so remember this street 122nd street. My aunts and uncles began to scare my mother telling her that the switching of infants was happening a lot of late, so my mother and father return to Utah to Bingham Canyon... While at the Air Port my mother was 8 and 1 1/2 months on the way... Our friend Pasquale came to the air port because their was a storm a brewing in the mountains and told my father and mother to stay in a hotel near the hospital in Salt Lake City, but they were so home sick and didn't expect me for another month or so...
They went home and when they were driving into Bingham, the snow came down with a vengeance and the wind began to howl, it got so bad that mom and dad didn't even make it to the house and at the beginning of town was a hotel, it was called the Copper Hotel, it's long gone now and so is the town of Bingham Canyon, because the mine has eaten up the town of Bingham Canyon as the mine expanded miles in each direction. So I was born at 10:30 AM in the Copper Hotel. That's why SemperFI61 won with the 9:00AM time, and I excepted the Canyon as a place of birth. I was itching to give away prizes, but not many participated, so I gave out consolation prizes also...
Our Doctor was stuck in the hospital in Salt Lake City by then and the mines doctor was taking care of another birth a mile away and with the blizzard couldn't make to the copper hotel. So it was a mid wife who was called in that lived and worked at the hotel... She was the one to help bring me into the world, and because of this, there is no new born pictures of me so I don't know what I looked like when I was born... I'll look for the pictures of the mountains and Canyons of Utah when I visited in 1983 and will show you where I was born. By the way... My brothers and I were know as the nuclear babies, because we were born when those nuke test were being done in Navada and deserts of Utah. Some say we didn't get sick as much as the city kids because of it...So there you have it, a naturally born baby of the 50's, and no circumcision, no baby pics, born in a hotel... Thanks for reading.... here's the link to my homepage on a lot of information on my biography.. God bless...
PS My daughter Christine was conceived on 122nd street in what is now known as the Wagner Projects in the same section my mother lived on 122 street in a furnished room hotel there, now tell me if that isn't ironic and Christine was born in the hospital my mother would have gave birth to me back then... The Metropolitan Hospital on 97th Street, NY, weird ah...
