OK gang here was our challenge. Everyone is looking for a lighter weight battery system. To date, our experience with these systems has been somewhat less than desirable.
These battery systems are expensive, and the way they have been built to date, is so everything is proprietary and you were stuck with no other choices than to buy parts from the original manufacturer. If your charger got ran over by your truck, you just couldn't go buy a new one at K-Mart, you had to order another one from whomever you got your battery system from.
The Litium Ion systems currently on the market for the SD/GP are totally integrated systems. The battery and the regulator are all one piece. So if your batteries take a dump, you have to send the whole system in to have the batteries replaced. If you forget to charge your battery/regulated integrated system over night when you are in the bush, well, you are out of luck; because there is no secondary battery pack - the battery back is soldered into the regulator unit. There is no going detecting, while your extra batteries charge, because there are no extra batteries with an integrated system.
That is why to date, we have stuck with the lead acid batteries, because they are dependable and they are cheap, and we kept the regulator separate. Lead acid batteries are readily available everywhere so you, as a consumer, can go look for the best deal you can get if you don't want to buy the battery from us. The downside is they are heavy.
Our challenge then was to give you that same versatility, and that same modular approach using Lithium Ion batteries so we could give you the light weight system you have all wanted with the COILTEK dependability you have come to expect.
Well how about a a 14 ounce modular Lithium Ion switchable 6.7v / 7.3v regulated system called the "POCKET ROCKET" at a fraction of the price of other systems currently on the market?

We started with a very popular battery, the kind you can buy in any K-Mart, Walmart, or even on Ebay. We opted for the 7.2 volt 5400mAh battery. You can get these in 6000 mAh as well but they are considerably more expensive. These 5400 mAh batteries will give you a minimum of 5 hours of detecting time, that is very conservative. This is the old style cam corder battery that so many video cameras like SONY use. These batteries usually charge up to about 8.4 volts when fully charged.
Then we designed a regulator that accomodates your power cord and headphone. A switch that turns the regulator OFF in the middle position switch it to the left and you regulate the voltage to 6.7 constant non-fluctuating current for your GP series machine. Click the switch in the opposite direction for a constant 7.3 volts for your SD series machines.
Click the battery in place, and in less than 2 seconds you are ready to go. If you are going to hunt all day, take along a spare battery, it weighs 10 ounces. Carry it in your pocket, when you are ready to switch batteries, click, old battery off, click fresh battery on. It takes less time to switch batteries than to get a drink of water, because all you are doing is snapping a new battery onto the regulator cradle, you don't have to unplug your power cable or your headphones.
The charger is a combo ac/dc charger that is a smart charger. Charge your battery at home or in your car with equal ease, and they are available everywhere, not just from us. They signal you when your battery is fully charged and switch into trickle mode. If you can find a better price on the chargers please take advantage of the savings!
And here's the best part, the price, RETAIL: $269, special price $229 - Here's our package:
2 5400mAh Lithium ion batteries
1 AC/DC charger
1 Switchable voltage regulator
1 Pocket Rocket Cordura Carry Pouch
