Re: Looks like I'm getting to know my Explorer Xs II in the parks, Here's my first Seated Liberty Dime, 1891

I'll tell you brothers and sisters, there's nothing like hunting a site that dates back to colonial times... I've been wondering where the seated coins are, well the Lord was kind enough to bless me with my first one.
This Mamacita was hiding in a iron infested area where I've been pounding for the last 3 days. She was under a bunch of rocks and a tree root.
I had asked for a setting on the forums and only got 2 hits from other Explorer XS II users, so between their setting and a little tweaking got a nice set up to use in this iron infested area I've been pounding.
What an assortment of finds dating from colonial times to the present. If anyone can id any of the stuff in the back, please do so as some of this stuff got me....
The Seated is a 1891, Dime in very good condition
The five Indians you may have seen before
One V Nickel, 1897
One Mason FOB dated 1866 to 1916 and has this G with a sun burst around it hanging from a chain like those of a chandelier, very interesting... It says on it Goldenes Jubiluam.
Old pepper or salt top
A few tags, brass with numbers, but one says...N.Y.T.R. CO.
A lug from an older car
Parts of a pocket watch
A candel holder
Harmonica reed
Porcerlin top
And the best for last... A button I looked up on the WEB....Made by Horstmann Bros & CO. Phil. This is the info I got from a link...
" Your button is a federal officer staff button.
I believe if it just reads Horstmann Phil.,then it is post Civil War,but if it reads Horstmann Bros. & Co. Phila.,then it is from 1859-63 period which as you know would qualify it as being CW."
Anyone else's two cents are welcome...Saw a nice one for sale on *-*ay for 85.00 dollars.
Well, hope you enjoyed these finds as much fun I had finding them, God bless you all and do look at the close ups, they took me a good while to get them the way they turned out...

Here's where I had my settings 4 moths after I got the Explorer:
Auto
Iron Mask -10
Sens 32
Gain 8
Deep
Contrast 10
Slight Threshhold
Now I hunt with iron mask even higher and in the fast setting as well. Dig iffy signals too until you get the hang of knowing what iron sounds like. Even then you will dig a few that are iron but the coins you will find more than make up for chasing the bad iron hits. Go slow when you start finding coins..there are more (I dug an 1876 Indian yesterday in an area I was SURE I had found every coin in). Also hunt in the trashy areas and go slow.....

congrat's on the seated!!I to have found a button made by W.H.Horstmann&Son's and it date's from 1843-1863,they are an awesome find arn't they.HH,Tom
