Hi cachenut,
Actually, I do my part. I've been a member of the Alaska Miners Association for about 30 years, served on the board of Directors 4 years, and am currently chairing the Recreational Mining Committee for the organization.
I've seen similar manufacturer organizations do very well with minimal staff and not a lot of money.
But hey, if the metal detector manufacturers simply do not care enough about their own industry to organize their efforts in some way, it is no skin off my nose. I'm not the one that will go out of business if detectors get outlawed.
