Hi All
I just bought a used Explorer II and it finally arrived. The ground is pretty much frozen up here in Edmonton.(no snow though) I have been trying it out at the playgrounds where you can still dig down 4 or 5 inches in the sand. I think I'm really going to like the Explorer.
Anyway, when it first boots up it shows a software version. Are there different versions?

Hi just came in to check any responses to my thread, but none are there so I thought of answering ur question : Yeah, there must be some differences in software on models made for different countries.
For example my Exp II which I bought from the States (via the net and it came way cheaper to me than buying one from a local dealer, almost 40% cheaper...which is a wonder...) has a different set of software and date than my friends one which he bought from the UK....His one was aparently assembled in the Irish factory (so he was told) and mine in the States....which may explain it, but apart from that, they both behave almost the same when setup the same....so what gives ?...who knows...he said that they told him the differences were minor, mainly in the discrimination part of the programming of the chip to match soils around the globe....maybe thats true....maybe not...maybe they just updated some later released models to include better discrim/less noise or something else...one thing I noticed about his machine, its alot more stable at higher sensitivity than mine (mine nulls at 17/18 and his at 22/23 when all other settings are the same and Iron is at -10)....Hope this helped.
(ps, post ur version/date here and let me see if its the same as mine or my friends....just curious)

Mine says 2.03 as well, but my friends one (I just called him to confirm) says 2.05 , so I guess they do have an update, or at least a difference.
What this means I dont exactly know, but as I said they told him this is a region (for soil conditions) difference and nothing more...
