One the way out and on the return I took a few quick shots of some of the houses on Old Tampa Bay. Always great to see how the other half lives.

Loved the way the sun hit these in the afternoon.[attachment 185068 house2.jpg]

This one was probably my favorite! Just around the corner from the actual bay so it has some shelter from rough seas and high wind. I love the barrel tile roof on the dock and of course you have to have 2 boats....... one for off-shore and the other for in-shore cruising !

Again I thought the lighting was great with the setting sun.

I like the spiral staircase on this one.

The brown one on the right seems to have it's own private beach. Awesome !

One last shot of some of the houses on my wish list !

Thanks for the trip! Wish I was there! Nice photos and story too, just gotta love a flats boat!.

Nice pic's. That old beach has to be out there somewhere.

The economy has hit this area as well. There are a few company exec's that have the houses for sale and they have left the area for permanent residency in one of their "other" houses. One was owned by a pitcher for the Atlanta Braves, it sits vacant as it too is for sale but not in foreclosure. Dwayne says that the taxes alone on some of those run 30 -35,000 a year! I also hear that the Home Owners Association is about 160,000 owed to them in delinquent dues. The people that own these kinds of properties usually own several more throughout the country so they will either just downsize but selling some of the properties choosing to reside at a favorite or just moth ball them and let them sit vacant until they either get their price or housing finally turn around. If you have cash in hand, there are bargains to be found here as well but keep in mind that the taxes never seem to get any less.
