real old?

I found this what appears to be brass lid of some sort at about 12 inches. The diameter is about like a slver dollar, it is heavy! There are numbers on the inside, can anyone tell me what these numbers represent?
The numbers are "1410"
 
i don't know being that old! could be one end of an old English scroll! If you find out let us know verrry interesting!
 
I would guess that's a casting mold number, the bottom mold should have the same number stamp on it.
