Really, really dumb question

I see a bunch of the guys on videos with pin pointers attached to their detectors. I'm pretty new (30 or so hunts) with an F2. Do I have to use an external pin pointer? I got a "free" one from the place I got the detector (some mega site on the internet) - but it's a total piece of garbage... any suggestions? Thanks!

if you want a good pinpointer the garret pro pointer is one. a cheap one that will work is made by centech for harbor freight. don't know if there's an inline probe for the f-2 but it will be made by sunray if thereis one.

Inline probe... that's what I was trying to say. I think I'll look into the ones you mentioned. It's all coming back to me... the free one was from Kelly's... It's pretty bad. You have to be right up on the target to get any kind of a reading.

Thanks for the quick and helpful response!

Not a dumb question at all, no sunray probe for the F2. But as Chuck said the garret pro pointer is really nice

There is a pinpoint function on the F2 that is excellent. Teach yourself to pinpoint with the F2 pinpoint function and you will never need a hand held again. good luck

Thanks for all of your feedback. Unfortunately it will be a little too cold and rainy to go out this weekend. Looking forward to some nice weather!
