Really wanting an E-Trac

New member
I'm really considering an E-Trac. I'm use to my X-Terra, and a little worried how I will adjust to one. I plan to read all of your experiences with it before I take the plunge. I must admit the safari is tempting as well. I just really need a detector that excells in trashy areas. I'm hunting a bed and breakfast that was built in 1849, and have only foind one Merc with the X-Terra. I know there is more, but it is littered with trash.

I have had my E-Trac for 8 months now.....I sold my X-Terra 70 last month......The XT 70 is a good machine ,but nothing in comparison to the depth you will get from a Explorer or an E-Trac.........Try noise canceling every 1/2 hour,,,,maxing your sens,,,,,and on little chirps ...switch to the prospecting mode to locate the deep ones......The best tip I could give you about the X-terra.......Is S-L-O-W- the ^#&## down.....you would have to get used to a snails pace with the E-Trac in the trashy areas anyway ..Be aware......ALLOT of silver will be found with your X-Terra.....in the trashy areas....at only 1-5".....SO try slowing your sweep to 4-5 seconds per sweep with your X-Terra....It W I L L Help

Ive been using my Se for 2 years now and love it.Ihave the pro coil,5inch excelerator and 18x15 s.e.f (great coil).I got the ok from the wife finally to get an E-trac.You guys think its worth it?I really like some of the options the E-trac has.i know people say they get the same depth, but the options really seem nice. The recovery/response speed is faster too isnt it?I have 3 days left to decide...

I have the 18x15 sef coil, I use it as much as I can. Long as there is no trash, then its great. But if there is trash, I get the 6" DD out and get great depth with that

Hi Digitall: There is simply no comparison to others(detectors) I went through the entire Explorer series, even sold off the SE pro and hunt with only the E-trac now.AMAZING units. Get one !!! I was so impressed with them I set up a dealership with Minelab and am happy to say that those who have purchased them are making impressive finds,I tell guys that have different machines that it makes no difference to me if you purchase one or not, if you don't it leaves more for me to find.:detecting:Hardrock (check this springs finds pic I added to this seeing is believing!!)

So you feel there is a diffrence between the detecting ability of the Se and E-trac?I wanna upgrade from the Se to E-trac but was wondering if its worth it.I know the obvious reasons, like the new features but does it detect better??

as far as the conduct and ferrous modes are concerned? I'm going to have to do some reading to find out what these modes are for and when to use them. I've been thinking about getting an Explorer but don't know which one yet. John

Get one, and don't look back. Very impressive machine. I had to learn to slow way down and I have pulled wheat pennies right next to zinc pennies, then dug the zinc ones to make sure I was correct.

I used the Explorer Se with the pro coil and loved it!....but my buddy uses the E-TRAC and kicks butt!!!!.....I finally pulled my E-TRAC out..had it for almost six months?.....had to leave the SE at home..other wise ,I would have used the E-TRAC for a half hour and went back to the Se. I can not believe how much more stable the E-TRAC runs...Seems like the SE is blu...blu beep...blu...blu..and you have to be used to it and the sounds to pick them out . Tha E-TRAC runs so stable...all you do is wait for the sound?......Who would have knew!

I have used a lot of good machines over the years but none compare to the E-Trac for deep old coins in trash for me,Ray.
