With the discrimination knob, why the increment or click of the knob instead of a free turning knob. A lot of times I wish that I was between the click for better discrimination.
 
Just guessing maybe it lock in the frequency ? if you ever looked at the backside of that Disc. knob it's pretty complex stuff with resistors for every click.
 
Recall also that its not a linear progression; its setup with an emphasis on removing targets in a different order so as to load the top end with coins and bottom with an
emphasis on removing the most common trash and being able to recover the most rings. Accidental movement with this setup would change preferences more drastically.
