I got the CS7 today and assembled it right away. I must say, very well built unit. You can see a lot of thought went into this one. All parts seem nice and rugged. I bar mounted the control box but may use the belt once I'm used to the unit. I never cared for hip mount, but this one seems so nicely set up, I'll give it another shot. I like the way they mount the box on the hip clip also, pretty slick.
I added the batteries and on came the lights and I was ready to hunt. Then also came the snow. So I passed on going to the shore as it was later in the day at this point. But I'll be there as soon as the weather breaks. Sure is different than what I've gotten used to in the past. Should be fun learning a new way to listen. I spend this evening air testing different gold rings for tones etc. I'll keep you posted on the results of my hunting the great salt pond. HH George-CT
 
any other web sites with just infomation on using a PI unit in general?. Still snowing here and will continue till sunday morning the are saying so might as well read more about these PI units.
Lots of sites on VLF but haven't found much on PI detecting. Cabin fever getting worst, perhaps a trip to the library is in order for more research. Tnx GeorgeCT
 
We PI users are a small select group. They are other water & beach forums but I know of no other PI forums.
We are all very fortunate to be able to have the most knowledgeable expert in the world in PI design, as a moderator of this fine forum. I have never meet a design engineer, manufacture, owner, that was so willing to discuss the inner workings of their products as much as Eric Foster does. We the users benefit 100% from this, no mater what product we use.

on this forum being a great spot and Eric is the man to talk to for sure along with many others here. Having never used a PI, I was looking for reading on the comon questions about a PI unit that of the non technical type. I feel like I'd be wasting his time on those questions. But I fully intend to pick all your brains here as I learn more about the PI units. Looking forward to it, and would be out today at the shore if the bad weather was not comming in, but look out tomorrow and monday, tuesday. Tnx for reply. George-CT

Hey Bill, the latest post there was January 18th so it is still alive. The title of the site is "Eric Foster's Metal Detector Technology Forum". He may not post there anymore but there is still good information on the site. George was asking for any other sites where he could read about PI's, I believe. a wealth of information on that site left over. I spent the afternoon reading all the email there. Learned alot about the PI there in general and the CS7 also. Tnx very much. Think I'll cut and paste a lot of it into one file and save it for others. PI info is a little scarce. Everyone sure seems satified with them that are gold hunters. HH George-CT
 
Plenty of reading there also. That will take care of tonight while the snow storm rages on. Both sites have a lot of just good info on PI units that the first time PI would not even think about.
Jogs the brain real quick like to pay attention.
