I tested the Q in my test garden and the depth is great. It is the only detector I have found that will pick up all of the coins I have buried and properly ID them. My most difficult coin is a nickle at 9". My DFX which I have used for a little over 2 years would not do this with the stock coil, and I think I knew how to git the most out of it. The only problem I am having with the Q is with the pinpointing on deep targets, I seem to do better pinpointing in the discriminate mode using a narrow wiggle as I push the coil toward the target. As far as the slow recovery, I dont at this time find this a problem as I hunt fairly slow although the high trash setting definitely speeds up the recovery and the depth seems the same to me as the low trash setting because the Q will pick up and ID all of my test garden coins in this mode also. I had a Explorer 1 for about a year and I think the Q has about the same depth. I have a 8" Minelab coil and lower rod on order, should receive it in a couple of days. HH

One thing about high trash setting - you will tend to dig more rusty iorn with this enabled. Also the VDI is not quite as accurate - tend to dig more trash. But as with any detector if you don't dig trash you will miss a lot of treasure.
