Rechargable Batteries on the Surfmaster PI

The original Surfmaster P.I. would take a ten cell battery pack so there was no problem. With later machines the easy option is rechargable alkalines as they do provide a full 1.5 volts per cell.
 
Thanks for the info! I do not like rechargable alkalines because, generally speaking, they supply a low discharge current, typically 400mA max.
Also they lose capacity after first recharge down to 60% of nominal cap. and must be recharged between 1/3 and 2/3 of residual capacity to avoid damage to the cells.
Sincerely I don't know if the latest alkalines overcome those limitations.
