Rechargeable 9 volt Batteries

Sven

Well-known member
I stopped buying AA alkalines and went to Lithium ion rechargeable packs.
But also gave up buying 9 volt alkalines. Have a friend that charges his back up on a battery charger. Of course some of his pop and some don't charge or las that long.
He swears by them and get his used 9 volts free, always has an endless supply of free ones.
He convinced me to stop buying and try charging.

Searched the web , eventually found a nifty little how-to build your own 9 volt alkaline charger.
Very easy to build, less than $1.00, Best of all works great

I power it with one of those Radio Shack multi voltage power adapters found at the Thrift store for $1.00.
I set the voltage to 10.8 volts, using a multimeter to check the voltage coming out of the regulator.
Takes about 8 hours to charge. The batteries do not even get warm during the charge. Never had one go pop even if left charging
for 24 hours.
