Rechargeable Battery stick for Safari/Quattro

I just got the 1800 NIMH rechargeable battery fr my Safari. Would've been nice to know it doesn't come with a charger. That being said, does anyone know if you have to use a Minelab charger? Or can you just get one at Radio Shack?

If you charge the batteries up it really doesn't make a difference if the electricity comes from a minelab, radio shack, batteries plus or walmart charger as long as they are charged. There maybe a difference if they are quick charged with you charger causing damage to your batteries if left on the charger too long?
But in that line of question you have 1800 nimh batteries and I see some guys saying get the 2100 or 2700 or was it 2800nimh batteries. I am wondering if that is good advice? ...Z
 
I would check the manual first, and then maybe ask minelab. You wouldn't want to fry such a nice machine or cause a void in the warranty. :confused:
 
Frog I'm just going thru the same thing. No charger for the 1800 mah battery pack. (or any of them ) I thought the same thing you would get a charger. I did charge mine once with a radio shack charger. It is a 12 volt 500 mah charger it does work but the charger should only be about 1/10th the mah of the battery you are charging. (180 mah) The larger one works and it is fast but I believe it will shorten the life of the battery. I ordered the right one of a guy on eBay. He sells minelab detectors. Northeast distributors. The charger is 14 dollars.
 
Thanks Mike, I'll just order one from Minelab, it's like 14.99. Pretty stupid they don't let you know you the charger is extra.... considering the battery itself is like 120 bucks.
 
Some said that they bought a battery charged at Wal-Mart that charges 8 Nimh's at one time. I have not been able to find one down here in Louisiana. Anyway the 4 batteries that come with the charger (Energizer) are 2450mAh. Can't remember how much but not over $20 each. They sure last longer then my 16000 mAh slim Nimh rechargeable pack. :thumbup. Ok back to Lurking. :D: :D: HH Jerry aka Tinfoil
