? regarding GQSSv.2

Mr Bill and Mr Foster;
a few questions regarding the GQSSv.2:
1- what does splash-proof mean to you? Light mist, light rain, heavy rain with water dripping off the detector box?
2- the audio response to quarters and dimes seems very weak, would this indicate a similar response to gold nuggets of similar size; or, is the audio response determined more by the composition of the target? Nickels and zinc pennies have very loud responses...I do know depth has a bearing on response and have made allowances for that variable...
I really enjoy the beeper, I just wish I could get to the gold fields more...

Splash proof means just that. It will take a good splash of water without damage. <img src="/metal/html/super.gif" border=0 width=26 height=28 alt=":super"> Light mist, light rain shouldn

If the REJECT/DELAY control is turned clockwise, away from MIN., the TX pulse, delay, sample pulses and inter sample delay all become longer. This gives an improved situation for detecting better conductors with longer decay times. In the MIN position, the TX pulse is only 30uS long, whereas the signal decay from a quarter is likely to be 10x this. If the TX pulse length is significantly less than the object decay time, then loss of range will result. In the MAX delay position, the TX pulse is about 120uS long, which is still on the short side for copper or silver coins. Still, as Bill pointed out, the primary application for the Goldquest SS is gold rings, jewellery and medium/small nuggets.

Thanks; I am not technically gifted(can't spell either), so I was curious regarding the signal response...I don't advance the reject on the beach or out nugget hunting...even with the limited audio on coins the signal is distinct and I have dug some deep coins and stuff.
