Regular F 75

Well-known member
Any of you guys sporting a recently purchased (non boosted) regular F 75? And if so, how do you like it depth wise and how emi prone do you find it to be. I had one years ago and loved it. Of course, when the LTD came out with boost and cache mode I traded the regular F 75. I truly believe the regular F 75 was deeper then the two LTD's I've owned since. Anyway, I notice the regular F 75 is now being offered at pretty good price and I'm being tempted to try one. HH jim tn

Jim, I had one of the first F75's to hit the market and it was prone to emi. Where I could hunt with it, it was a great detector. But, if there were over head wires within 50 feet of me, it would go crazy. The F75 se was not like this first F75. Could it be Fisher is coming out with a new detector and unloading their old new stock? I would love to see a dual frequency detector again.

Yeah, mine would chatter pretty good on certain spots, too, but I learned to work with it and the ways to quiet it down enough to hunt. I just recall having dug some pretty deep coins with it that kind of got my attention having run C Z's for a good number of years prior to getting it. Anyway, it was a thought on an afternoon that is far to hot to get out and hunt.

It would be nice to see a new hot detector from Fisher and Tek. Thanks, HH jim tn

Jim my old F75 is quitter then the updated one even with the up dated one in 9.1 mode. This old one I have, I had to send back to First Texas 2 times to get the noise fixed when I first got it.. So if you got a noisy F75 send it back to them till they fix them. It has been raining so much I can"t get the time to check them out. I will in the next few days though. Will let you know how they both do. My old Ltd was updated and works great and is very quite. The F75 regular model that was sent in to be upgraded to the DST is a POS. It is noisy noisy noisy and I have sent it to them twice.

If it is as noisy as the last time I sent it in it is going to get sent back a 3 time. So I know for fact that they can be shut up. Now there is a few things you can do to quite them down and one of them is putting a little positive G/B in them by increasing the G/B about 5 numbers positive for med. mineralization dirt. You will have to go Neg numbers for bad mineralized dirt. That will drop some of your sen. to small targets but it is better then the noise. You can drop the threshold down to a few neg. numbers and that will quiten them down some. You can raise the Dis to a 5 instead of 0. Always set Threshold first, Fast grab then go to Manual and do the pos. offset. I always set my threshold first fast grab and then go to manual G/B and do the pos. offset. Threshold will affect your G/B. and in your Dis. mode also. Setting the threshold first in all metal is very important. Anyway just a few ways to compensate for some noisy machines. However it should not be noisy in the first place if you are away from EMI like power wires transformers. A leaky power transformer will play hell with a detector even if it is a ways from the detector. Air conditioners and septic tank motors really tare the detectors up. So does Wify. Anyway I know you know a lot of this already but just some info for for others. Later Jerry aka Tinfoil

I still like and use my original F75 as my primary detector. I wore out the stock coil and have the small coil and the gold coil for gold. I can go through hot ground. Just need to know how to use it.

I fell so much in love with my crooked F75 upgraded to the LTD 2 model that I'm about ready to order one of these as a back up detector. It is the upgraded F75 with DST, and at less than $500 shipped I personally think it's the deal of the year. Thankfully more people aren't catching on which is good for me. Running my current F75 that I just sent in for service, I was able to pull targets at amazing depths not even using the boost mode, and these were targets in areas that I gridded the heck out of with my CTX 3030 running wide open at max sensitivity that the Minelab just plain missed. Don't get me wrong, the Minelab still has a special place in the line up, especially when I don't have a lot of time to swing after work and want to run Bill's trashy park program and cherry pick, but the F75 now holds the title of first detector out the door. Already miss it as it heads back to Fisher for some fixing :(

Thanks guys,

I am giving some serious thought myself to the non boosted F 75 with DST. Certainly a good price and who knows, it just might be as deep as the very first F 75's they come out with. I am fairly convinced that with boost, cache and DST some depth has be sacrificed along the way. HH jim tn

I personally don't know, Maybe a used one will pop up in time. New they sell for $599.00. That's probably the best way to go. HH jim tn
