So I returned to the homestead that I started yesterday( near the 1960's high school) and the hunt was on! Well, sort of lol. The picture (with the padlock in it) was from yesterdays hunt. I forgot to take it off my SD card. The others photos are from todays hunt. There is a lot of junk I didn't even take pictures of as I figured we all get the jist of what junk looks like lol. I talked to the landowner again and we were talking about the age of the home. (I showed him the eagle button that dates back to the 1830's) He agrees that it was an old home from the time period. (He was a self-employed carpenter his whole life / now retired ) He also told me of old stone well that the man use to draw water from (now buried
) and an outbuilding on the right side of the home. He says he has a picture of it someplace at home.... I hope he finds it.
As I was explaining to birdseed aka Pete the old metal tubes I have been finding are not all toothpaste as many of them are KY jelley tubes lol ( Introduced in January 1904 K-Y Jelly's original stated purpose was as a surgical lubricant, and it was often chosen by doctors because of its natural base) These are very old tubes so I am not quite sure what was happening at this house lol.
The best find tonight is the little jeep I found. I managed to dig around in the hole and find one of the tires for the front. I was really hoping I could find the other wheel but no luck.
So I tell myself, self "not every day is going to be filled with "glory" especially at an old home site such as this"
Thanks for looking - Jim aka dimeman aka EPL
