religious medal found

Today, I found this tiny little religious medal on my hunt. It states: "Mary Concieved without sin pray for us who have recourse to thee" at the bottom it has a number of 1830. Does this signify the date it was made or does this stand for something else? On the opposite side as you can see it states MVM Sterling. Thanks for looking & for your help. - Jim

After some quick research on the internet ( isn't the internet great? ) I have found the answer.
Thanks for looking. - Jim

The Meaning of the Front Side of the Miraculous Medal

Mary is standing upon a globe, crushing the head of a serpent beneath her foot. She stands upon the globe, as the Queen of Heaven and Earth. Her feet crush the serpent to proclaim Satan and all his followers are helpless before her (Gn 3:15). The year of 1830 on the Miraculous Medal is the year the Blessed Mother gave the design of the Miraculous Medal to Saint Catherine Labour

also one time. Got all excited about the date - took it to a priest who has a book of these things and found out what you said. Still a nice find, esp the sterling part, Steve in so az

That date is to signify the sighting of Mary in 1830. It is fairly modern, but a nice find for sure.
