Replacing coil on 1280X

I was wondering if I could replace the 8" coil I now have on my Fisher 1280X with a 1200 series Fisher coil? Fisher wants $250.00 for the coil alone and $50.00 an hour labor just alittle to steep for me.

I bought a used 1280x aquanaut on ebay with allt he wires ripped out, then resoldered all the wires back on with little problem. You should be able to use any of the 1200 coils as they are inter-changeable. Goodluck
