Replay of Thursday (Help with Whatzit requested.)

I hit the same road I had tried out Thursday. My plan was to find 30 coins at 5 different sites. My plans changed when I hit planned site 2 and it was off limits for the day. I ended up hitting three sites including the two I had hit Thursday. I got to find out just how lazy I get toward the end of my hunts. Site one (right of Hello Kitty chain) I found 32 coins and 13 pennys. Site two (bottom left) I found 61 coins and 21 pennys. Site three (top left) I found 50 coins and 7 pennies. I skipped a mess of pennies. I'll go back and get em you can be sure. Both days I hunted exactly 4 hours. Day 1, 150 coins. Day 2, 143 coins. Today I got 4 wheats and one junk ring. The junk was a lot better Thursday.

I dug one of these once before. What is it? Appears to be brass. Real heavy, over an inch high, and almost as wide. The back (flat side) has a star shaped opening like it might have turned a valve or something else.

It's the weekend so naturally I'm tumbling again.

Thats a lot of digging cwilk. You must spend the whole time on your knees! :twodetecting:

Congrats on the many finds !!

As I was dumping my clad coins into their designated storage containers I checked the dates on the nickels and noticed I had a 1942. I hoped that when I flipped it over I would see a big letter above Monticello on the reverse but no such luck today. My last War Nickel was October or November 2007. Long time to wait.

Could be a finial for an old gas light or some old decorative door apparatus. I can't see it being a water key or such. I think it maybe like bill said a decorative gas valve.

I was thinking a gas valve too and the more I look at it the more it looks like a flame. I think you two are correct.
