Requesting Input - Wide Open Program?

Hi all,

... long time lurker, new detectorist...

Background info: I own a Deus with 9" LF coil and run v4 and have used it for a few hunts (love the Deus!). I always use either the factory Basic or Fast programs. I have been happy with both programs.

I'll have access to some fields in Nebraska (fairly mild soil). So my question is, which of these two programs would you all recommend be used as a base to modify to run a wide open program? Basically I want to have a program option to find all and then I dig all.

I've read through tons of custom program specs and am only more confused on what settings I should use/modify. I'd like to add a custom program to my toolbox when I feel like digging all targets in cleaner ground. I'm ok with taking the time to dig a lot, even iron since even the iron could be interesting Nebraska farmstead relics.

Thank you for any help you can provide. I greatly appreciate the expertise on this forum.

Welcome Doc
I would start with Deus fast program #3
and I would run either Gary's or Calabashdigger's Sifter program running full tones.
I would then adjust from there.
Any program you run can be "heated" up if your conditions warrant.

I would suggest program 9 HOT, it uses a open discrimination and full tone audio.
The Sifter program is slightly less aggressive than the HOT but works on the same platform.

HuntinDog, mark604 & Gary-B,

Thank you!! I appreciate your information.

I've run in Gary's "Sifter" program a lot over the last 2 1/2 years, because I hunt a lot of sites that are loaded with junk metal.
I really like Full Tones and I've made hundreds of great finds with this program !

Also, be sure to go back to sites that you have hunted before with a different machine - you will be surprised what you missed !
I went back to a few dozen sites that I thought I had "hunted out " - made good finds at more than 75% of these sites with the Deus.

Good Luck ! :detecting:

how much iron is in the fields that you hunt Dr. Who? the sifter is good if lots of iron. if it's got less trash i use the deep program and modify from there. maybe use TX3, sens as high as you can, full tones, disc 6.7 to 9 or -2.5, low reactivity. also check out CTTodd's relic program too. It's also a great relic program. Happy Hunting

Don't overlook the pitch program, you need to run some discrimination but it is a killer on some sites.

right on, this program too. There are so many options with the Deus to get the most out of any site it's just amazing. It's good to be us. :)
