Resetting to factory preset

Took the 705 out Friday. Once again had a hard time finding a clean spot to GB. Used tracking for a bit, turned tracking off, etc.
Hunted for about an hour finding nothing of value. Decided to reset, this is the 2nd time in 2 weeks. After resetting, I was able to find a spot to GB and almost immediately after that I popped up a wheat, searched for another hour and found 2 more wheats a couple of zincs and a quarter.
I don't know if resetting and finding the wheats is coincidence.I dont have any custom search patterns so resetting doesnt matter too much. I'm just not certain why I need to keep resetting this, maybe its the way I set up the machine and I'm over doing something.

Have you changed coils with the power on or turned on the detector without a coil connected? I think the 705 is pretty stable from a software standpoint. Just thinking something like that may be causing you some grief but probably not know to cause an issue.

No, never done that. When I'm done with it I stand it up in my computer room until I'm ready again.
I am starting to think it may be me. Next time I am going to change my settings to what presets would be and see how it acts.
Even though its a PITA because I seem to have to do it to get results(to me anyway), it isn't that big of a deal.

Have you used this in more areas than what you had explained above. I've been in a few areas where ground balancing has been really tricky.

Also, are you doing a noise cancel prior to ground balancing. My Mom has a 705 also and the other night we we out using the same coils and her's was sounding pretty noisy. I re-noise canceled and ground balanced for her and then it was fine. I would also double check sensitivity. Sometimes you just can't run at 30. Dropping the sensitivity a little may give you a little quieter results. Just a few simple things to try if you haven't already.

First thing I do is noise cancel, then put it in AM to find a spot to GB. I have been running sens around 25, but I think factory is 16.
I can't really think of any reason I would need to reset unless its me whacking things up for some reason.

Sensitivity controls the detector

I agree Randy. I think most of my issues have been caused by me.
Thanks again for your input.
