These are not pretty to look at as they are kinda old and dirty on the outside, where the sides and backs were most of the time either facing each other, or the wall. But the fronts were facing daily barrages of laundry for the past 61 years. We are the 3rd. owners of these old time quality built machines. They are being retired because I can't get anymore maintenence parts, the last thing I replaced (yesterday) was a hose that goes from the outer drum to the pump on the washer. We have owned these units since 1978. There is nothing wrong with the dryer (electric). So after I post these pics, I am sending pics to Maytag (Whirlpool), and letting them know that we purchased new Maytags today, to be delivered Friday afternoon. Both machines were purchased new in 1953 for 150.00 for the matching pair. Today we spent almost 1300.00 for a matching pair of Maytag Centennial models. Sure hope the last at least 30 years, then I'll be 94 years old and won't care anymore
