got a frantic call friday night from a guy who lost the one ounce platinum ring with sapphire in it. made the 75 mile drive Saturday morning, 1 hour and 15 minutes to get there 10 minutes to find it. mission accomplished. 1 ounce of platinum at 12 carat blue sapphire. insured value 61,000.
He was one happy camper"

He was very appreciative and gave me $300.00 for my time, gas and tolls. This ring was crazy heavy it was closer to an ounce and a half then an ounce!

HolEcrap, $61k!!!! Congrats on that return for sure. I bet you get an extra Xmas card this year!
I once got called to hunt a $10k wedding ring, but the guy found it before I got there (that's good of course, but still, I lost my chance at hero-dom).

You deserved that reward. congrats!

Well done. I wouldn't wear expensive jewelry like that if I could afford it, which I can't. You were generous with your time and travel and he was generous also. I remember this guy in Louisianna who gambled and he was a sore loser and my cousin advised me to drop a 2,000 dollar bet on the super bowl and I'm glad I did. He was helping someone he knew on a shrimpboat and was in an area offshore where the water depth went from 300 feet to several thousand feet deep and lost his Rolex watch. Served him right for being a sore loser and being known for giving PLB's to people who won bets from him. (Parking Lot Beatings) I would have won the bet on the super bowl, but would have lost in the parking lot because he always traveled with a crowd. Glad the guy you dealt with was decent.
Hope you guys on the show don't resort to those tactics.

You sir are an asset to this hobby and definitely deserve that $300.00! Congratulations on making the owner's day!

Great job. Good to know that he found someont that could help find his ring. Would be great to find something like that.... KEN

Ron, sick return there. 300 is not chump change, but I would have done better if I owned a 60k ring. In the end, the reaction of the owner is what makes it worth while. Awesome return. hh an gl, -Joe

Ron,
Congrats on the return. What a ring! Looks huge.
Found in 10 minutes sounds like he had a very good and accurate idea where it was lost.
Well done!!!
Cheers,
tvr

Nice job Ron, but I smell a rat. 1 oz of Plat is worth around $1.5k...I may be wrong, but it doesn't seem that stone would be worth $58k. Maybe some insurance fraud going on? It sure doesn't take away from your awesome deed, though...congrats!

If you didn't think the stone could be worth that much, then all you had to do is...ready...use google. A quick search would reveal that the stone is indeed that valuable.
