Return to the beanfield, found 2 more injuns and relics

today I went back to one of the beanfields I worked yesterday, I was hoping bad for some silver but it was not meant to be. I dug almost everything above iron today, hoping for an old nickel, but I got a lot of shotgun caps not pictured.

The 2 injuns are 1883, and 1903, takes me to 73 for the year, only need to find 2 more to hit my goal of 75 indians for the season.

I cannot make out for sure what the silver looking star piece says, I think it says Van Wert Ohio, S. Wayne St. other than that, no idea....and the tag says Cook Carriage Co, Cinicinnati US.

Good going Terry. good luck on your indian goal. I really like the crotal bell. I saw some where a guy had several of different sizes he had attatched to a piece of leather and tied it to his door. they make a very nice sound.

I seem to also find quite a few of the tokens with the star patern exactly like that. Mine are good luck on one side and an advertisment on the other. Being aluminum I find some in some really bad shape as well. cool bell with them indians.

Looks like the token is one of thos custom stamping ones that could be made at fairs and such. The last part of the unreadable section looks like 'RICKLE" to me - maybe "MENRICKLE" or "MERRICKLE", but nothing comes up on Google like that. A pencil rubbing might bring out a bit more of it. Stuff like that where the hunt continues after the hunt is fun.

On the star token like others are saying it is one you make yourself to use as a ID tag or we used to sometime take a girl out and if we liked her we would put both our names on them. They were of many uses and we used to go to the Greyhound bus depot in Fargo, ND back in the late 50s early 60s and put in a dime in the machine that look like a slot machine with 2 handles and a dial in the middle with the letters and numbers. You would dial the letter or number you wanted and pull the left handle that would imprint the letter on the token and when done you pulled the right handle and the token you drop out in the tray. Like finding those with name and address and seeing if i can find who they were, but never did return any unless I know who it is. Some are married and the other name is not that of there husbands or wife's. They are always a cool find and the tag you got that came off a carriage is a great find and a nice piece of history.

FYI - I think I recall that you set your 2TF with discing out 01 FE up to 01-31. Just wanted you to know that I have dug many IH cents with 01 Ferrous. Two yesterday that hit 01-31, 01-32. Area was not heavy iron, but those were the numbers.

yes I do disc those numbers I spent a whole day digging 01 numbers and every one was iron. I am willing to miss an indian every now and then to save digging 50 nails!
