Detected today with bertman in local park.He had spotted a recent demolition and suggested we try to gain permission to hunt the lot, after spending some time at the park. After knocking a few doors permission was granted.I ground balanced the mxt and within 5 minutes had a merc,so worn its hard to make the date (1920s) within couple of minutes bertman had a 45 merc.He found a old watch, some clad, lots of trash. My best find came in the form of a navy pendent. An elderly Lady was grooming her lawn so I asked if she knew the man whom the pendent belonged to.You could see the memories come as I handed it to her to look at,the man was her brother in law.We spent about 3/4 of an hour just talking. In short she gave permission to hunt her place and before leaving we had permission to other properties.Wonderful day in the neighborhood!:super:

The MXT and the 5.3 coil was on fire... ok.dirtfisher said something and I held my hand to my ear meaning huh  ... Thought he said bertman, then the unmistakable word merc was heard over the chatter in my headphones... About 5 minutes later I was holding a 1945s merc... We found lots of junk and a few additional goodies... Had a great time... After ok.dirtfisher gave the 1945 medal to that sweet little lady, I handed her the 1945s merc to go along with it... Can't wait to check her yard and the one across the street as both properties date to the early 1900's...

What a great deed you did. And it's already paid for itself since you have permission to hunt her yard and others. What wonderful memories. I take it that her brother in-law has passed away? Would love to hear............the rest of the story. Thanks for sharing and HH, Nancy

Great job guys. You lived up to the detectorist's code and it's already paid off for you. Not only that but it benefits all of us. Thank you. BTW-I'm sure the look on the old woman's face is a treasure you'll keep forever.
